Season3 Autumn 2019 Update

Posted on 27th October, 2019

Since the release of Jonathan Livingston Seagull I have teamed up with Stephanie-Jayne, a young Pembrokeshire singer, who guested on Jonathan and the SALIGIA projects.  She wrote some lyrics when she was 14 or so and are very mature for that age and I am writing and playing the music for her songs.

So far we have recorded and mixed two songs and we are both thrilled with the results and are looking forward to presenting them in 2020 as an EP or album - can't wait :-)

Have also been mastering work for talented collaborator Ben Holmes and his tracks are on Spotify.

Also been busy sampling our upright piano and Jill's 1966 Melodica and her vocals to make Kontact Instruments to use in future projects.

New Album - Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Posted on 3rd July, 2019

Season3 is pleased to announce the release of their latest album - Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Inspired by the international bestseller "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" written by Richard Bach in 1970. I first composed and recorded this in 1987 and published it on cassette in 1988. Thirty one years later with modern high quality recording hardware and software I decided to re-record and collaborate with other musicians to release on a not for profit Limited Run CD (55 Copies) available in the Shop and you can pre-listen on the album page..

For those of you who have flown, Jonathan Livingston Seagull shows that flying is for fun, but for everyone he shows you that there is more to life than the routine. I hope this short album is but one example and that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Amazing Young Talent

Posted on 1st March, 2019

This post is a bit of a tease because I can't play you the track until the artist releases it but I have never heard a piece of music that has had quite an affect on me. In fact during the mixing process it became quite wearing (in a nice way!)

It's a duet by two young singers (she is 13 and he is 18) of a song from a musical. It's VERY special and can't wait to post the link here as soon as it is released.

Autumn Years - Single Released

Posted on 8th February, 2019

Proud to announce that Autumn Years by Season3 has been released online today at the Singles Page.

Up to now I usually record everything myself on keyboard but was encouraged to collaborate with other musicians and it is one of my goals with the Season3 project.

It was great to hear the song evolve as each musician added their track and the Singles Page has a list of all those involved in the project and a HUGE THANK YOU to them all.

Hope you like it as much as I do :-)

Winter 2018 update.

Posted on 7th December, 2018
Busypracticing mixing and mastering and getting great feedback. Currently working with local singerSeren Jade on an album to be released in 2019.

Also recording a 2004 song I wrote called Autumn Years using mainly local musicians plus a drummer (Benhlms) who I have never met but have started a collaboration with that shows great promise for the future.

Autumn Years is a precursor to re-recording a concept album I first made in 1988 based on the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull using as many "real" musicians as possible.

Continue to have a Friday 09:45 slot on Pure West Radio to demonstrateSeason3 mixes.

So a busy period ahead - hope you all have a great Christmas.

2018 New year - New Project

Posted on 27th February, 2018

This is my second blog since launching the Season3 project and I've called it 2018 New Year and here we are 1 day away from March!

I've been drip feeding my Dueling Mixes via my YouTube Channel. If you're not familiar Dueling Mixes is a great concept for people like my learning and improving my mixing skills. Each month I get all the tracks that make up a mix -maybe 12-30+ sometimes. It is up to me how to match them relative to each other apply effects and make sure it sounds as good as I can make it. I also have access to a back catalogue of 60 songs so I am working my way through. Some great tracks in there and hope you enjoy them - if you do a like or a comment would be appreciated.

So what's the "New Project"? Throughout the 90's Jill wrote some great poems based on the 7 deadly sins - the project is called SALIGIA - I'll leave it to the detectives reading to work it out (please post if you do) and in my next blog I'll report the meaning.  This is quite a challenge for me as I've only composed instrumentals and songs not a poem set to music.

So far I have three ready for the narrators to do their bit in the coming weeks and I'm really pleased with what I've done so far. Quite different to my last album (Time For Change).

I don't have a release date yet but I will tease a track or two once they are completed!

Launch of Season3 Music Project

Posted on 11th December, 2017

Today is a special day as it officially marks the first day in a new chapter of life under the project name of Season3 - I'm 59 so there is a clue :-)

I had 41+ fantastic years in aviation and achieved more than I ever thought possible as a schoolboy daydreaming looking at nylon suspended Airfix models from my bedroom ceiling back in the early 70's. But now it is time to move on.

Ever since I was Head Chorister of Bridlington Priory Church in 1971 I have always loved music and in 1981 I bought my first synthesizer. The results were at best "barely average" but by the late 80's a spark was there and I released some compositions to friends and family.

Today after a long break due to family/work/golf/building and flying an aeroplane it is time to re-engage with my music and release a re-recording of Time For Change; a CD album I made in 1991 that never went public.

I compose and record music for my own pleasure and if others like it I treat it as a real bonus.

So here we go. After re-recording Time For Change in 2017 and trying to keep true to the colour/vibe of my original recording I release it for all to have a listen/download.

If you don't like it - fine - if you have the time please tell me why.

If you like it thank you and a "Like" on the Facebook icon below would be helpful. Please follow the progress of Season3 as I believe this is going to be an interesting and, hopefully, surprising chapter as the sounds and style evolve.
